Before you compare prices

Do not compare contractor bids until the scope is normalized. A lower price can be worse if it excludes permits, disposal, access work, warranty, cleanup, or known code items.

What every quote should state

  • Business name, license details where applicable, insurance, and contact information.
  • Exact work included, materials or equipment model assumptions, and what is excluded.
  • Payment schedule, start window, expected duration, cleanup, warranty, and change-order process.
  • Permit and inspection responsibility if the project commonly requires local approval.

How 51828 uses this checklist

Every calculator page includes a service-specific worksheet and red flags section so users can apply this general checklist to the project they are pricing.
